Roman Catholicism is the dominant religion in the Philippines. Almost 80 percent of it's population are Roman Catholics. This is due to Spanish colonization and influence as they occupy our country for about 333 years. Along with the religion they brought are the churches which are considered to be the "House of God or Worship". Churches are scattered all over the country, most of them are historical. Historical in the sense that they were not only built for over a hundred years now but most churches were made as refuge during natural disaster, and war. Some churches served as protection from pirates. Some church were beautifully built while some were bounded with simplicity. Churches also have different interesting stories behind them.
Before, I don't have much interest on collecting images of churches in the country but as I am scanning all photos I've taken from the past travels, I noticed that there are lot of pictures with church as subject. So, I decided to compile them into one post. Here are some example of those churches....
